Voyage across the ocean is a recurrent theme for Muslim mystics—the boat symbolising a journey, a search for the divine. Every year, in preparation for the annual festival at the water shrines in the delta, fisherfolk make these miniature boats with immense love and devotion. They bring these boats with them and present them as offerings at the shrine.
