About Chivas Leung
Chivas Leung Wai Yan (b.1994) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2018. Sometimes drawing, sometimes painting, sometimes printmaking, sometimes comics and sometimes zine making, but always based on her true story. The irreversible nature of life prompts her to vividly recall past memories. She sees art-making as a ritual to complete memory, and creates imaginary scenes to retrieve the missing pieces in her memory and commemorate all those times she had.
I can always see the sun and the moon through the window of my room. That is my inspiration of creating this zine. Sometimes I feel like I cannot breathe in this busy life. Yet being able to spend some time with beloved one at home, we feel the peace and bliss, especially when sometimes we look at the moon at midnight and the sun in the early morning. The so-called ‘life’ is nothing more than this, seems ordinary but actually extraordinary and precious. I want to record and thank these moments.
