The theme of As Shards of Dawn Shot Though the Dark can be summed up as the struggle in pursuit of “surrender" or the momentary emergence of clarity in self-questioning. Without seeking transcendence, let time pass, one phase comes to an end, and another phase continues day and night, night and day.
The catalogue comes with a limited edition print signed by the artist, and two booklets featuring scripts of A Messenger - Passerby in Our Battlefelds, and As Shards of Dawn Shot Through the Dark.
《光明卻沒有背離黑暗》的主題說穿了，其實是描述在追求「臣服」間的掙扎，又或，在自我審問中頃刻出現的澄明之境。不求超脫，就讓時間流逝，一個階段終結，又再日以繼夜、夜以繼日延續開去。
隨書附送《飛行備忘》 及《光明卻沒有背離黑暗》兩個影像作品的文本，以及由藝術家簽名的限量版收藏級印相。
About Lo Lai Lai Natalie
Lo Lai Lai Natalie was born in Hong Kong. She received her Bachelor of Art (Fine Arts) and Master of Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a PhD candidate at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. Lai Lai is a former travel journalist. She finds her interests in food, farming, fermentation, surveillance, and meditation. She has a farming practice, using photography, video and installation as a means to interact with nature. Her artworks are part of collector Dr Uli Sigg's private collection and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
勞麗麗生於香港，獲中文大學文學士及藝術碩士，現為香港城市大學創意媒體學院博士候選人。她是一位「退役」旅遊記者，現專注於大自然生態相關藝術創作。主要研究課題跟食物、農耕、醞釀、監視、冥想等相關。作品以流動影像、攝影、裝置及混合媒介為主。作品獲希克藏品及美國三藩市亞洲藝術博物館收藏。
