Adopt a boat or painting from the Indus Delta community!
Shahana Rajani’s first presentation in Hong Kong, ‘In drawing, in remembrance’ follows communities in coastal Pakistan who employ various drawing practices to confront displacement and infrastructural violence. Drawing is simultaneously a medium of measurement and expression, enclosure and restoration; for the local communities of the Delta region, it is also a mystical Islamic device of navigation and recovery during crisis. Grounded in collaboration and field research, Rajani portrays these approaches to drawing in two recent video works by layering the stories of fishers, painters, elders and activists. All the paintings and miniature boats in the exhibition are available for pre-order. The proceeds will support the displaced Indus Delta community.
